A place for South Norwalk

1.25 miles through the heart of South Norwalk, connecting schools, jobs, transit, housing and parks

Until the 1970s, trains ran from South Norwalk down to the coast at Wilson Point.

Our vision is to re-activate this corridor, creating a trail that runs from South Norwalk Station, past the new South Norwalk School, to the future Manresa Island Park.

Darlene Young, Norwalk Common Council for South Norwalk

“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.”

Connecting the neighborhood

The SoNo Rail Trail links together major destinations: the railroad station, Manresa Island, local businesses, food and drink venues, public parks and the new South Norwalk school. Journeys in the neighborhood between these destinations become faster, safer and greener.

Faster, safer, journeys

Johan Lopez, Norwalk Common Council at Large, Chair Sustainability Committee

“The rebirth of the abandoned and overgrown rail line as a walking trail will not only be a tribute to the cultural heritage and contribution by the immigrant families of Whistleville, but provide residents with access to the numerous benefits of green space.”
